Naya Kanga (Ganja La Chuli) Peak

Overview

Naya Kanga (5,844m), formerly known as Ganja La Chuli lies in the lap of the most perfect alpine landscape in the world, the Langtang region. Regarded as the second largest national park in Nepal, Langtang National Park has healthy forests of rhododendron, fir, blue and chir pine and birch. The wildlife in the park includes leopard, musk deer, Himalayan black bear, rhesus and langur monkeys and the endangered red panda. The Langtang valley is surrounded by high peaks with great appeal. When the British mountaineer Bill Tilman described it as the most beautiful valley in the world, since then it has gained its popularity among the nature lovers. Furthermore, the region is also popular for alpine plants. The valley is dominated by the Tibetan origin Tamang community.

Naya Kanga (5,844 m) rises to the west of Ganja La is a popular but difficult mountain to climb. The normal route to this peak follows the snowy north-east ridge. The first climber of this peak is still unknown. The most important reward of climbing Naya Kang is the stunning view of Lantang Lirung (7246m), Lenpo Gang 7083m), Dorje Lakpa (6990m) and mighty Shishapangma (8027m) in Tibetan side. Easy access to the region and availability of several snow peaks scattered around for acclimatization make this region an ideal destination for mountaineers.

Itinerary Overview

Day 01: Kathmandu (1350m)
Day 02: Kathmandu. It is our permit preparation day. Hence, we go for sightseeing around Kathmandu valley. We would visit the historical sites and archeological monuments listed in the list of World Heritage Sites. In the evening, we would go to Nagarkot (7200ft.) to view enchanting sun set and sun rise. 
Day 03: Kathmandu - Dunche (1950m) - Syabrubesi (1450m).
Day 04: Shyabrubesi - Lama Hotel (2480m)
Day 05: Lama Hotel – Langtang (3541m)
Day 06: Langtang - Kyanjing Gompa (3800m)
Day 07: Kyanjing Gompa 
Day 08: Kyanjing Gompa - Naya Kanga Base Camp (4400m)
Day 09: Naya Kanga Base Camp
Day 10: Naya Kanga Base Camp - High Camp (5000m)
Day 11: Summit Naya Kanga (5844m.) - Base Camp 
Day 12: Base Camp - Kyanging Gompa - Langtang Village
Day 13: Langtang - Lama Hotel
Day 14: Lama Hotel - Syabru village
Day 15: Shyabru village – Dhunche
Day 16: Dunche - Kathmandu 
Day 17: Kathmandu. Full day sightseeing in the Kathmandu.We would also do necessary shopping. In the evening, we would be served farewell dinner in the hotel.
Day 18: Final departure. You would be see-off from the Tribhuvan International Airport.
